Designer: Sarah Dominguez Gossetti

Scope: Restaurant Interior Design · Space Planning · Bar Design · Custom Design Features · Lighting Design · Material & Finish Selections · Furniture Selection · Bathroom Design

Goal: Create a welcoming Ethiopian restaurant that celebrates craft, color, and communal dining through a contemporary interior. Develop a cohesive identity across the main dining room, bar, VIP room, and bathrooms, while giving each space its own atmosphere.

What we did

  • Developed the dining layout with a mix of communal tables, individual seating, and booths.

  • Designed the bar with warm wood, stone, and brass details beneath a canopy of suspended pendant lights.

  • Combined patterned wall treatments, exposed brick, and integrated greenery with an earthy palette of olive, ochre, and burgundy.

  • Created a VIP room centered on a ceiling installation of Ethiopian basket lids, complemented by pink-sand stucco and illuminated niches displaying traditional coffee pots.

  • Developed the bathroom design with rich green tile, a brass basin, an arched mirror, and layered lighting.

  • Selected furniture, materials, and finishes to connect the spaces into one cohesive design.

Result: A developed restaurant design that brings Ethiopian craft references, warm materials, and distinctive gathering spaces together in a rich, inviting setting.
