We feed off each other's strengths.
The Studio
We started the studio because we like working together. Each of us brings a different strength as an interior designer, and each makes the other's work better. Addam is at home with real rooms and real materials. Sarah is at home with precision and visualization. Between us, clients get both.
The name is an invitation. by.OTHERWISE offers another option for how to look at and understand your space, and a clearer path to realizing its potential.
Another way of looking at your space.
What We Believe
Anyone who wants to improve their daily life can do it through interior design. Working with a studio should feel approachable.
Design is for everyone.
The physical and the digital belong together.
You shouldn't have to choose between a designer with taste and one with precision.
Real materials give a room character.
Materials, art, and antiques give a space a depth that can't be ordered as a set.
Team
Sarah Dominguez Gossetti
Founder | Principal Interior DesignerSarah studied Furniture and Product Design at Politecnico di Milano and has led interior design projects in New York City from concept through completion. Her approach combines a strong technical foundation with an instinct for color, material, proportion, and furniture. With a particular knowledge of furniture design and construction, she helps clients select pieces for their quality and longevity—not simply for how they look today. At by.OTHERWISE, Sarah leads the design process from space planning and technical development through material selections, furnishings, and the details that bring a home together.
“I want to create homes that feel personal and collected—not designed for a moment. I care about how things are made, how they function, and whether they’ll still feel right years from now.”
“I like turning what a client wants into a room they can actually walk into. I believe a good space can hold more than one era, and I enjoy bringing those eras together in a way that feels natural, collected, and personal. The goal is never to recreate a moment in time, but to create a space that feels like it has a history—and room for what comes next.”
Addam came to interior design through a lifelong love of art and architecture, and sees the work as the place where the two meet. At by.OTHERWISE, the focus is the physical room: space planning, sourcing, and the art, antiques, and materials that give a space its character. Outside the studio, Addam can be found at estate sales, in museums, on a trail, biking and kayaking, or in the garden. He takes this inspiration from the past and nature, to help him better understand how a person lives, and how others can see spaces.
